About Your Coach

Hi there! I’m Jhovanna Therrien and I go by Jho (pronounced like “Jo/Joe”). I’ve been a runner for over 10 years of my life- at this point I have more memories involving running than not. I raced competitively through college receiving Tennis & Cross Country All-State honors, Sportswoman of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach’s Award, and set cross country records at my alma mater, Hollins University. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Biology degree and Minor in psychology. After college, I expanded my race repertoire to include many more trail and road 5ks, 10ks, half-marathons, marathons, and ultra-marathons. I’ve been coaching since the beginning of 2022 coaching runners virtually and in person. My philosophy behind running and coaching is being process-oriented with the end goal in mind. The process, the running journey, to your end goal is where the magic happens. Working with me means you’ll not only show up to your goal race feeling secure, knowledgeable, & supported but better equipped to run for many years to come! I’m a huge advocate for cross-training & resistance training as a runner. All individualized training plans with me will include how to best pair both with your running. Personally, I have many loves outside of running that include lifting, ice climbing, kayaking, yoga, playing tennis, soccer, and really anything else that gets me moving outside. As your coach, we’ll work together to build a holistic training plan that incorporates the extra-curricular activities that you love while tackling your running goals.
